Chicago Metro Alumnae Association
The Chicago Metropolitan Alumnae Association of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc. celebrated our National Philanthropy Day by having both a Blood Drive and Food Drive. Life Source, the major blood bank that supports 94% of Chicago Hospitals, are currently having a blood shortage...and thanks to fellow sisters, family, friends, etc. who came out to support they helped LifeSource save a lot of lives. We also had a Food Drive, in which we collected non-perishable food items and toiletries for The Church of the Ascension who allow us to host our Blood drive in their Church, as a "thank you" we donated all the food and toiletries to their food pantry.

The Metro Atlanta Alumnae Association celebrated Sigma Lambda Gamma's National Philanthropy Day by volunteering at the Foster Care Support Foundation in Roswell, GA. The Foundation is an all-volunteer community resource dedicated to providing clothing, toys, and infant equipment to foster families and foster children. We sorted children's and teen's clothing into multiple sets of fall wardrobes. Then we labeled and packaged each set for specific children to be sent to their foster parents by the end of the week.
Sigma Chapter
Sigma chapter at the University of Illinois at Chicago was proud to celebrate our National Philanthropy Day by cleaning Baraga Park in the city of Chicago. This park is located just across the street of a middle school, and we were concerned about the children that go after school to play in this park that was sadly very dirty. We picked up all the bottles and garbage that was in and around the park, as well as sweeping the broken bottles found on the slides. We had a good time helping these children to have a clean park to play.
Sigma Alpha Chapter
For National Philanthropy Day the Sigma Alpha Chapter raised money for a sister of Eta Alpha Chapter We raised money to help her and her family pay for medical bills surrounding her 2 organ transplants. The pictures attached are from our Dine to Donate fundraiser through Applebee’s, which donated 10% of the profits from their customers to our cause. The rest of our money came from profits earned through a party thrown in collaboration with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
Chi Alpha Chapter, Rho Gamma Chapter, and UHD Colony
We hosted a benefit car wash for breast cancer awareness. All the proceeds were donated to The Rose. The Rose is Houston's area non-profit cancer organization providing mammography screening, diagnosis, early access to treatment and support to all women regardless of their ability to pay. It was a lot of work and at the end of the day we knew our hard work paid off!
Alpha Gamma Chapter
The Alpha Gamma Chapter used National Philanthropy Day as an opportunity to reach out to an older community. The sisters went to the Miami Jewish Home for the Aged and sang up beat songs for the residents of the home. It is a non for profit organization that provides independent living in a 24-hour nursing care environment. We went throughout different areas of the home singing songs from an "older time" such as Respect by Aretha Franklin and Ain't Too Proud to Beg by the Temptations. The sisters enjoyed themselves immensely and we felt we got a good response from our audience.
